Why Colour Matching with DTF Transfers is Tricky and Why We Don't Offer It

Written on March 17, 2024

Have you ever tried to mix paints to get the exact color you wanted and found it really hard? That's a bit like what happens with color matching in DTF transfers. Let's learn why it's so tricky and why we don't offer it as a service.

What is Color Matching?

Color matching means trying to get the exact same color in a picture or design every time you print it. Imagine you want your favorite blue shirt to have the exact same shade of blue stars as the ones in your drawing. That’s color matching!

Why is Color Matching Hard with DTF Transfers?

  1. Temperature & Humidity for the Printer:
    • Example: Think about how sometimes it feels different in your house when it's hot and sticky or cool and dry. Printers feel this too! The temperature and humidity (how much water is in the air) can change how the colors come out. When it’s too hot or too cold, too dry or too humid, the printer might print colors a bit differently.
  2. Screen Settings from Customer to Our Studio:
    • Example: Imagine you and your friend both play the same video game, but the colors look different on your screens. That’s because your screens are set up differently. The same thing happens when you send us your design. The colors might look different on your screen at home compared to our screen at the studio. This makes it hard to know exactly what color you want.
  3. Ink & Printer Differences:
    • Example: Think of using two different sets of markers to color the same picture. Even if both sets have a red marker, the reds might look a bit different. The same thing happens with printers and inks. Different printers and inks can produce slightly different colors.

Why We Don't Offer Color Matching

  1. Inconsistent Results:
    • Since colors can look different because of temperature, humidity, screen settings, and different printers and inks, it's really hard to promise the exact same color every time. We want to make sure you get the best quality, and it's tough to do that with color matching.
  2. Complex Process:
    • Getting the perfect color match requires special tools and lots of time. This can make the process very complicated and expensive, which isn't practical for everyone.
  3. Focus on Quality:
    • Instead of trying to match colors exactly, we focus on making sure our DTF transfers are bright, vibrant, and high-quality. This way, you get beautiful designs that look great.

Conclusion

Color matching with DTF transfers is a bit like trying to get the perfect mix of paint every time—you need the same paper, light, and even the same markers! Because it’s so tricky and can lead to inconsistent results, we don’t offer it as a service. But don’t worry! We still make sure our DTF transfers look amazing and high-quality, so your designs will always stand out.

Now you know why color matching is hard and why we focus on making the best DTF transfers instead!
